Anson Lo

Singer and actor

As a member of Mirror, one of Hong Kong’s most popular groups, Anson Lo needs little introduction. The singer, dancer and actor has taken the city by storm over the past few years following his appearance on the reality TV talent competition Good Night Show – King Maker, in which he ranked among the top 30 contestants before joining Mirror in 2018. He then made his own solo debut in 2020 with the single “A Lifelong Mission”, subsequently being named Best New Asian Artist 2021 at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The pop idol’s image has graced everything from magazine covers and multistorey billboards to countless smartphone screensavers and wallpapers, while a number of acting roles have brought him screen success in films such as Showbiz Spy, Hong Kong Family and It Remains, with two further projects – The Moon Thieves and WE 12 – on the horizon. In July, his first solo concerts in AsiaWorld-Arena sold out on four consecutive nights.

After rocketing so quickly to stardom, it’s no surprise Lo makes an effort to interact on social media with his fans (whom he amiably refers to as “Sontos”), thanking them for their continued support. As a dance instructor and back-up dancer for other artists before achieving his current status, he says one of his biggest early hurdles was a lack of confidence and self-belief.

“Everyone is different and unique in their own way,” Lo says. “I’m just a guy who simply loves performing. Of course, I have my own charm and charisma, but outside of those traits, I do believe that as long as I enjoy what I do, my fans can feel it and enjoy it as well.”
