Lamborghini is getting into the EV game with their very own all-electric concept car they’ve dubbed “The Lanzador”.
Electric supercars have slowly been on the rise as electric vehicles have become more and more popular. The question that motorists have asked is whether EVs will be able to match up with the performance of gas-powered supercars. Car manufacturers have since tried their best to prove that was possible.
The Italian luxury carmaker is one of the latest car manufacturers to jump into the fray. During the Monterey Car Week, which was held from August 17 to 20, it unveiled a concept “ultra GT car” which they’re touting to be their very first all-electric vehicle.
The Lanzador, Lamborghini’s concept EV
Measuring almost 197 inches, the Lanzador’s aesthetic is a blend of futuristic design with a touch of classic Lamborghini motifs. The concept EV’s body is reminiscent of the class grand tourer but its large 23-inch wheels hearken to SUVs. Because it doesn’t need to house a huge engine, the Lanzador is one of the roomiest sports cars there is, making it almost like an SUV/high-performance car hybrid.
As for performance, CNET reported that CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that the Lanzador is capable of delivering more than a megawatt or over 1,341 horsepower to its wheels and has a full-electric all-wheel drive system. As for the car’s range, Lamborghini hasn’t divulged any details yet. Other features include drivers being able to change the car’s suspension and will also include Integrated Control 3.0 which will use AI to adapt to the driver’s behaviour and the status of the road.
The Lanzador is expected to be made available by 2028. If all goes according to plan, not only will it be Lmaborghini’s very first all-electric car, but it will also be one of the few cars that can clock in speeds only a supercar can while also still being a viable car for everyday use.
